As some of you may know, there has been a nationwide shortage of stimulant medication for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity disorder that began in October 2022. Since then, patients have been struggling to fill their prescriptions in a timely manner. Incidentally, because so many patients were switched to alternate medications, finding those medications has also become more difficult.

To prevent interruption in treatment, we ask that you make recheck appointments 10-15 days before medication runs out to give time to locate pharmacies who can fill the prescription. Also, we often have no way of knowing which insurance plans will pay for which medications. Before coming to your child’s appointment, please check your insurance plan’s formulary to see which similar medications will be covered in case a medication change becomes necessary.
